Moron

My bigotry festered and grew then out of control it just blew but I just couldn't see since you're different from me surely I must be different from you (A kneejerk reaction poem about the man who abused then tore the Hijaab off a Muslim woman on a local train , last weekend)

I loved how you explained what happened. It brought your Limmerick alive and touched our hearts. A sad occurance, indeed!

G'day Viv... we've had the same thing happen down here, but thankfully there have been people who stood up to the thugs - unfortunately bigotry can raise its ugly head anywhere and against anyone in a minority - Lindsay

Ayup Lindsay. The local paper never mentioned how many otherw were on the train, but since it's a two coach service running between Derby and a little town called Matlock, probably very few. You can google it, it's probably on the Derby Telegraph website. As I mentioned below to Duke, bigotry has no borders, and while there are borders, so will it be- Viv

The title says it all. It is exactly that--bigotry. This is the bane of our existence.

Yes, Duke, I'm afraid society will always have a neanderthal element who can't think beyond their eyebrows. Thanks for popping by. Regards, Viv

Sometimes we have to write about what we see Viv, and this was definitely worth writing about, well done, James :):)

Thanks, James, didn't know if it would make the news everywhere, but apparently it happens a lot, and they just put up with it. Which is a shameful situation. Regards, Viv

A good poem that highlights the shame and stupidity of bigotry. Emile.

Good write Viv. The soup allows free communication between countries and cultures dispelling myths, misconceptions and fears. I hope we can reach more people with this ethic and do our bit to dispel hatred. Kind regards, Ian

Thanks for your comment Ian, it made my blood boil. If you need to cross a river, you build a bridge, not wipe out the opposite bank. Otherwise, you'd never move forward. Sadly, there are plagues of ignoramuses (ignorami? ignoramati?) ... there is an ignorant person out there accompanied by many more who simply don't get it. Regards, Viv

Well said Viv and no, I don't think this is a knee-jerk reaction at all...True, ISIS and radical Islam is a severe threat but this man showed his bigotry by lumping ALL Muslims together which is most definitely not the case...I hope he was arrested and will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law...

They're still looking for him, but hopefully the CCTV footage will help. I used a Limerick out of context simply because it was a faster vehicle to put my feelings across- if I had sat and written a thirty liner it may have been more elegant but ineffective, and I wasn't in the mood at the time. Thanks for your comment and obvious tolerance of the world and it's foibles. Regards, Viv

A lot of idiots out there, Seren. My daughter went through a Goth phase, and got a lot of bullying at school. Her reply was a tshirt that read 'You laugh at me because I'm different- I laugh at you because you're all the same'. Thanks for popping by. Viv x
