Five Great Limerick Guys

Caleb Smith, southern gent so refined, has an interesting, humorous mind. He not only can write, but can farm, fish and fight, and on critters he hunts he has dined! Also clever at limericks is Tim. He does footles for friends on a whim. The bright bulb in his brain comes on time and again. May Tim Ryerson’s light never dim. A third limerick writer, Mike Dailey, has some fifty of them we can see! Though I don’t know him well, by his poems I can tell that a doting grandfather is he. There are oodles of limericks by Jack. Sheer wit our dear Horne does not lack. But his vampire obsession can leave a gal guessin’ Am I friends with a maniac? In praise of the Duke I now sing. All his poetry has that cool “ring” - a limerick each one - making Beauford- bar none - The PoetrySoup limerick king! *A SHOUT OUT also to five OTHER great limerick guys: Sean Kelly, Charles Sides, Charles Clive, Harry Horsman, and Robert Hinshaw & Soupers, Let me know of any other limerick guys out there I should know about! Ask Marugu Mo

Where do all the great poets go?
If you ask me so, I would say, "I don't know"
There must be some hidden pain
Writing poems relieves their brain
Dear ones are their poems greatest foe

Where do all the great poets go?
Ask the river, ask the melting snow
They may say, " He was just here
With his grief - eyes full of tears"
Writing poems does not pay also

Where do all the great poets go?
Ask the sun, ask the shining rainbow
They may say, " He was just here
Got caught with his write - in fear"
Dear ones are their poems greatest foe

Where do all the great poets go?
Ask the moon, ask Marugu Mo
There are problems in their life
They can't help but face the strife
Writing poems does not pay also

Canadian Jack The Poet

Poet Jack with entertaining pen so bold
Continually writing to keep out the cold,
Likes those limericks short and sweet,
Loves the ladies, makes his heart beat,
Writing keeps young Jack from growing old

EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND

EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND There was a young fellow named Ray Who sat with our group yon day after day. Through fears dark and some frivolous He’d listen to all of us This insightful young fellow named Ray. Through many tissues and tears We aired our secrets and fears. Often times we would laugh Surely, the best cure by half- Much better than drowning in beers! He’d frown or he’d smile Showing concern all the while. He’d probe all our issues And we’d reach for more tissues While he added more notes to our files! With dedication he nourished And his wisdom we cherished. On every word we did hang And his praises we sang For our demons have finally perished! Our lives we’ll recoup, said our young fellow named Ray One step at a time, 'pon day after day. So onwards and upwards, my friends ‘Tis time for making amends- Thanks to a young fellow named Ray! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ******* This gal from Down Under Will always remember young Raymond 'Bontana' … The best M.S.Win Greater “Toronta”! c ELR 2013

Days gone by

That moment when you awake
in the early morning haze
You feel the need to reflect on
the past in so many ways
With every passing hour
time is flying by
You start to reflect and
often you cry
You look at your PRECIOUS
blessings now grown and
living their dreams
As tears fall down your cheeks
because years have flown
by it seems
You know in your heart that
they have listened to your
words of wisdom you shared
They love you for your dedication
and that you truly care
GOD has been great in your
life without a shadow of doubt
There is good in this life that always
comes about
As you lay your head back
down to rest
You know in your heart that
you have done your best
The circle of life will keep
going around
Eyes begin to close and you
feel love in your heart
The sun will be rising soon
with a fresh new start
