Poor Victor began to feel ill When he heard the dentist’s loud drill his knees began to shake But he had bad toothache So he sat in the chair quite still The dentist said “please open wide There’s a dental nurse by your side Your fear we understand And she will hold your hand This won’t hurt a bit”, OUCH… he lied! Posted with permission of Victor who challenged me to write a poem about his recent dental experience … the nurse holding his hand is pure poetic licence 08-10-17

Hi Jan, what a hoot. "Id be equally as willing for a dentist to be drilling than to ever let a woman in my life"-My Fair Lady. I just knew there would be a" funny" here somewhere. Love Jan(nie)

hmm I cold write about it I had to wear one of those vile smock things when I had a brain scan and couldn't understand why I had to wear one as I wasn't exactly having to get undressed when they re called me for another brain scan I think it was because they had read my poems and had to double check I actually had a brain lol:-) hugs jan xx

I used to be terrified Nette but when i had my son I didn't want him to be scared so I found a really sympathetic dentist and it doesn't bother me so much but I do hate fillings and find the dental injections excruciatingly painful:-( hugs jan xx

Oh...this one hits home with me. I have to go in to have a tooth pulled, then wait six months to have a dental implant. Not fun! I have been through it three times before. I marvel at your talent at writing these wonderful limericks Jan! : )

OUCH Connie - I have a mental block when it comes to implants as we had a rogue dentist on the Island who got my mum to sign up for £13,000 ($16,8740) of implants which was totally ridiculous as she was in her late 80's at the time and has severe osteoporosis and her jaw would not have withstood the implants. we managed to get it stopped and it was going to go to a dental tribunal for malpractice but they left the island before it could go ahead. :-( hugs jan xx

I dislike dentists immensely, despite technical advances. An open mouth is for food, not a drill and sharp picks. You're always up for a challenge, Jan, and you won this one.

I used to be terrified Mike but I didn't want my son to be scared and found a really sympathetic dentist and now it doesn't bother me much apart from having the injections which are so darn painful:-) hugs Jan xx

At least with childbirth you have something to show for the pain with the dentist the only thing you get is the bill:-( hugs jan xx

This is AWESOME Jan! I really enjoyed reading this delightful little poem about a visit to the dentist...everybody's fears coming to life right before us! You have amazed me by your incredible skill at writing these limericks, it seems to me that you wrote them with seeming ease, but I know you put a lot of thought into these poems! What a fun piece, Great Work!!
