Enough Already

It was the sixth wedding for daughter Judy who was quite plain and hardly a beauty. Time came to give away the bride whereupon her Father replied "five times I've tried--I've done my duty."

I can hear the father saying to himself, "I've tried to give her away, Lord knows I've tried." Thanks for commenting, Daver. I value your feedback.

Made me smile even more knowing it is based on truth - no wonder the guests groaned if they have to stump up for gifts every time lol:-) hugs Jan xx

You always come through for me; thank you, Jan. The limerick is based on an actual event in my wife's family, except that "Judy" had been married four times, not five. The Father's comment drew strained laughter from those in attendance. hugs xxx
