Before Freud

It's hedged--but an allegory Augments the lore in each story Son Isaac he'd gore  But Abe knew at his core     Zeal with excess has no glory Author's Note: I believe the voice of god in the story is Abraham's conscience. The bible might just be the first comprehensive psychology textbook.   It's a string of pearls from people who faced the same moral and ethical questions we do.

I never trusted Freud,, maybe because he attached everything to sex. As Sara said the bible is good teachings. Yes I think it is a psychology book as you say, keeps a person in line "sometime" Abraham's conscience is God, You have a great holiday ;}

The "Bible" has great teachings even if a person did not believe in a God or the God of the "Bible". Abraham's situation with his son was a forshadowing of God's own Son dying on the cross for us. Think about it as Abraham thinking that his son was to be the Savior. Keep the creative pen flowing with great writes to make us think. On your poem about the red head, I meant that you were to commended for being faithful even though you saw an attractive woman. Thanks for stopping, commenting . SK

Dear Duke, I have read three of your Limericks now, including before Freud. It reminds me that sometimes a pipe is just a pipe. Very clever Limericks. :) Thanks for your comment on my poem I want the world. That one was written in a light-hearted moment when I was wishing for a miracle. Love, Amy

Interesting perspective, Duke, but I wouldn't want to argue it with a Bible scholar! You are right though, the Bible is fraught with psychological studies!

Interesting view point. Bible says that Abraham was ready to sacrifice Isaac to show how God would feel about sacrificing His son.
